「TIME LESS]

Nice to meet you, I'm Yoshi Saitō from Tokyo. My father took me fishing for the first time when I was a child. After school, I worked part-time jobs while traveling around the world. Around age 23, I moved to Hokkaido to work as a ski instructor at a certain ski resort. I ended up getting a job at the resort, and when the snow melted, I spent my days off fishing nonstop. I learned to fish as a child and later got hooked on bass fishing. In Hokkaido, I fished for salmon and trout in rivers and lakes. After getting a boat, I became obsessed with offshore fishing. Catching the legendary river and lake fish, the Japanese huchen (Ito), is one of my specialties, having landed several over a meter long.

I've pioneered numerous fishing spots around Toyako Town, including Rebunka, Ogi, Toyoura, and Usu. Whether you're a beginner or a veteran, I welcome you for family fishing trips or as part of your Hokkaido travel plans. I look forward to serving you.

Equipment and vessels used
Instrumentation

Marine radar capable of detecting other vessels and floating objects at sea, combined with simultaneous use of two fish finders—an in-hull type (transducer installed inside the hull) and a through-hull type (transducer in direct contact with seawater)—enables easy identification of fish sensitivity, debris, seaweed, and other objects.

Boat in use

The compact Yanmar EX26 is used. While a compact vessel, it features a deck specifically designed for fishing. The engine utilizes a shaft drive system, unusual for this size. Additionally, it is equipped with a marine toilet, parachute anchor, and spanker sail, ensuring a comfortable fishing experience for our customers.

Fishing spot

The spacious deck features non-slip deck sheets to minimize the risk of your valuable tackle box shifting due to waves and reduce the risk of slipping and falling, ensuring a safety-conscious deck design.

Halibut: AM ¥9,000 / PM ¥7,000

In Uchiura Bay, fishing is favorable for humans in the main shelf area at super shallow depths of 7m to 20m.

【Bait Fishing】200-350 grams, main line PE #2 or higher, bait includes large sand lance, smelt, mackerel, etc.

【Lure Fishing】Hard lures: sinking or deep divers. For soft lures, jigs 20-40 grams. Larger worms offer varied options.

【Live Bait Fishing】Weights: No. 20-50. Leader: 1 meter or longer. Bait: Freshly caught mackerel, etc. Direct hook attachment to the line is also acceptable. The method is truly freestyle!

Flounder: ¥9,000 AM / ¥7,000 PM

Flatfish fishing in Uchiura Bay is primarily done using the jigging method. Once the season kicks off, it's not uncommon to catch hundreds of delicious Sohachi flounder.

【Tackle】 Prepare PE line #2 or higher and sinkers #30 to #50. A sensitive flounder-specific rod is recommended, though other rods can be used. Use sandworms as bait; if you dislike them, worms are also acceptable. For float fishing for flounder, use an electric reel with a fixed-spool rig and target them with red squid or similar.

Young Yellowtail Jigging AM: ¥9,000 PM: ¥7,000

When it comes to autumn's signature catch in Uchiura Bay, it's the “bluefish”—mainly yellowtail amberjack and young yellowtail—but you can't let your guard down as occasional yellowfin tuna also bite.

Hit a school of mackerel and you'll get endless hits. In autumn, they transform into incredibly tasty, fatty fish. If you find a large school, you can enjoy catching numerous fish over 40 cm long.

【Yellowtail (Juvenile) Tackle】Use main line PE #2 or higher, with leaders 60-80 lb. Jigs: 40-60g. When targeting yellowtail, depths over 100m may be necessary; prepare a wide range up to 150g.

【Mackerel Tackle】Mackerel fishing often leads to intense excitement onboard, so please take care to avoid injury.

Use main line 1 lb test or higher. Prepare jigs weighing 40-60g.

Yellowtail (juvenile) Tuna Casting (subject to regulations) AM: ¥11,000 / PM: ¥9,000 One-Day Trip: ¥19,000 (11-12 hours) Capacity: 3 people

【Tackle】Prepare two types: one for young amberjack and one for tuna. Aim for bird schools with full casting! Fish breaking the surface will definitely get your adrenaline pumping!

Main line: PE #2 or higher. For tuna: PE #6 or higher. Prepare both topwater and sinking lures. We witness 100-kilogram-class schools every year—don't let your guard down.。

Rockfish AM ¥9,000 PM ¥7,000

From autumn to spring is the season for bottom-dwelling fish. The seabed of Uchiura Bay is mostly sandy, but areas with rocky outcrops become oases for the fish. We target these rocks by striking them directly from above.

Sakura Trout AM ¥9,000 PM ¥7,000

The season for sakura salmon in Uchiura Bay runs from April to mid-May, and they can be targeted using jigging, casting, or bait fishing.

The sight of their silvery bodies brings spring to mind. As sakura salmon are a popular target, we recommend booking your trip early.

【Tackle】For jigging, prepare main line PE #2 or higher, leader 30-60 lb, jigs 150-300g. For bait fishing, prepare bait around 400g and feather lures. For casting, prepare PE #1 or higher and larger minnows.

Salmon AM: ¥11,000 PM: ¥9,000 One Day: ¥18,000 (9-10 hours)

When it comes to salmon fishing in Uchiura Bay, “jigging” is the name of the game. On our boat, we offer not only jigging but also salmon jigging, drift fishing with dodgers, bottom rigs, and various other techniques.

We only head out when good catches are expected.

【Tackle】For jumping strikes, prepare a float lure rig and spoons weighing 30g or more. For all rigs, use main line PE #3 or higher; for bottom rigs, use at least #8 or higher. We recommend using an electric reel.

Daytime Tip-Run: AM ¥9,000 PM ¥7,000 Night Squid: PM ¥7,000

When it comes to squid in Uchiura Bay, you can use either night fishing methods—anchoring the boat and using lights to attract squid—or squid metal jigs and bottom rigs.

Bigfin reef squid, which have recently arrived in Uchiura Bay, are targeted during the day using topwater lures. Since the waters are shallow, sinkers up to 20g are sufficient for the game.

【Tackle】For squid metal jigging, use main line PE #1 or higher; for bottom rigs, use PE #6 or higher. Water depth ranges from 40 to 60 meters.

Boat Rocking: AM ¥9,000 / PM ¥7,000 One-Day Boat Rocking: ¥15,000 (10-11 hours)

When it comes to Uchiura Bay, rockfish season kicks off in late May! This area is a mecca for rockfish enthusiasts gathering from all over Japan. The Abuta region offers diverse habitats perfect for rockfish—from rocky shores to lava fields and tetrapods. Leveraging this prime location, we now offer a one-day plan where you can fish all day long, with breaks for energy refills along the way.

【Tackle】 A bass rod or similar can be repurposed; around 7ft is easy to handle. For spinning reels, use a 2500-3000 size. Main line: PE 1.5-2. Use a leader of 20lb or higher fluorocarbon for low visibility to fish. Set up an offset hook or jighead with a 4-6 inch worm. Sinkers should be around 20g to 40g. This is a casting game with a range of 10m or less.
